Banner Depot!
Here is a selection of paper banners from old army books. Although they can be a bit fiddly and can look pretty crappy if not done well, I find these to be preferable to the new molded banners.
Painting free hand on the plastic and metal banners is rather difficult and it is harder to get good results in my opinion.
With the paper you can get some really cool and intricate designs, as can be seen from my Vampire Counts gallery.
If you would like to contribute banners that you have but are absent from this page please email me at alfonziknov at hotmail dot com.

How to paint Banners
1. Print out your banner, cut around it and then tape it to a piece of card.
2. Spray it a few times with matte varnish to stiffen it up a bit.
3. Paint the design, don't worry too much about staying in the lines. In place of golds and metals I'll use a crude NMM with yellow/brown and gray.
4. Go over the lines with a micron pen. The tip is a little wider then the lines so if you went over a bit this will hide it.
5. Matte varnish again to get rid of the micron pen's shinyness.
7. Cut the banner out with a hobby knife and attach it to the painted standard bearer.
7a. For single side front facing banners, I'll usually super glue it to the actual pole. It is easier to glue the top flaps in place then. Technically you don't really need the flaps but the banner looks a bit weird without them. Then paint the back side a single color.
7b. For double sided banners, I coat each side with a thin layer of PVA glue and wrap it around the pole, trying my damndest line up each side perfectly. You will probably have to shave parts off with a scissors though.
8. Color the edges with paint or pen as the white paper edges will still show up. With black banners I just used the big end of the Micron but with the DoW ones I had to paint each side red/white/green.
Custom
I made these for the Dogs of War.
Chaos Dwarfs
From the 4th/5th edition book. I never cared much for the pre colored kind so I made a black and white version.
